Colts, Freeney agree to 6 years, $72M (AP)
The Indianapolis Colts have signed defensive end Dwight Freeney to a long-term contract that will make him among the NFL's most highly paid defensive players. Freeney and the Colts agreed to a six-year, $72 million contract that includes a $30 million signing bonus, Freeney's agent, Gary Wichard, said Friday.

Bengals LB Pollack likely out for season (AP)
Bengals linebacker David Pollack, who broke a bone in his neck during a game last season, isn't expected to play this year. "He is working extremely hard and will continue focusing his efforts on rehabilitating with our medical staff," coach Marvin Lewis said. Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers won't face criminal charges following a review of an exotic dancer's claims that he inappropriately touched her. A 20-year-old woman who dances at a club on Detroit's west side made the complaint last month against the 6-foot-4, 345-pound Lions standout, claiming he entered her dressing room where she was changing.

Rams CB Brown suspended 4 games (AP)
Rams cornerback Fakhir Brown was suspended Friday for the first four games next season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. The league didn't reveal the specific nature of the violation. Brown's agent, Ted Marchibroda, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment. Brown's suspension will begin Aug.

Jags OT Barnes gets 6 months probation (AP)
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Khalif Barnes has been sentenced to six months probation after pleading no contest to a drunken driving charge. Barnes, 25, pleaded no contest last week. Duval County Judge James Ruth on Wednesday also sentenced him to pay $650 in fines and court costs, perform 50 hours of community service, attend a drunken driving class and have his driver's license suspended...

The Oakland Raiders signed offensive lineman Mario Henderson to a contract Friday, making him the team's fourth draft pick to sign a deal. Attorney: 'Pacman' targeted by police (AP)
An attorney for suspended Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones accused a sheriff's deputy of targeting Jones in a June traffic stop, saying there was no reason to pull over Jones' orange Lamborghini. Attorney Worrick Robinson said he has been told the deputy had talked of his intention to pull over Jones when he had the chance.

LeBron watches as Durant scores 32 (AP)
Kevin Durant struggled again with his shot Friday night, this time with superstar LeBron James sitting courtside. Durant missed his first six shots and finished 9-of-23 in the Seattle SuperSonics' 85-74 loss to the Golden State Warriors. He was 13-of-16 from the free throw line, however, to finish with a summer league personal-best 32 points.

Grizzlies sign free agent Milicic (AP)
The Memphis Grizzlies on Friday signed forward-center Darko Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 draft who is joining his third team. Milicic put up disappointing numbers in his 1 1/2 seasons with the Orlando Magic after being drafted by Detroit. But he averaged 12.3 points in the playoffs for the Magic against the Pistons.

Kings sign Nets C Mikki Moore (AP)
Mikki Moore agreed to a contract with the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, leaving the New Jersey Nets to join his eighth NBA team. The 7-foot Moore had a breakthrough campaign with the Nets last season, averaging career highs of 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while making nearly 61 percent of his shots, leading the NBA.

PG Blake returns to Trail Blazers (AP)
Former Trail Blazer Steve Blake is coming back to Portland, even though in one sense he never left. The free agent point guard who played for the Denver Nuggets last season signed a reported two-year deal with an option. The Blazers, who confirmed his return late Friday, did not disclose terms. Blake, a four-year veteran, averaged 8.3 points and 6.6 assists in 49 games with Denver last season.

Jazz sign PG Hart to multiyear contract (AP)
The Utah Jazz signed point guard Jason Hart on Friday. Hart signed a multiyear contract, but terms were not disclosed, said Kevin O'Connor, Jazz vice president of basketball operations. The 6-foot-3 Hart played for Sacramento and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2006-07, a combined total of 36 games, and averaged 6.9 points, 2.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.22 steals in 23.6 minutes.

Brent Sutter hired as Devils coach (AP)

Coyotes sign draft pick Mueller, D Bell (AP)
The Phoenix Coyotes signed center Peter Mueller, their top draft pick of 2006, to an entry-level contract and re-signed defenseman Brendan Bell on Thursday. Mueller, 19, got a three-year deal for $850,000 per season. The No. 8 overall pick in last year's draft, Mueller was the Western Hockey League rookie of the year for the 2005-06 season when he had 26 goals and 32 assists in 52 games for Everett.

Thrashers sign free agent C Giroux (AP)
The Atlanta Thrashers signed free agent center Alexandre Giroux to a multiyear deal Friday. The 26-year-old Giroux had two goals and two assists in nine games with the Washington Capitals last season. Giroux also played in 67 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League, recording a career-high 70 points (42 goals, 28 assists).

Russia refuses to sign transfer accord (AP)
The Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland ratified a four-year transfer agreement between the International Ice Hockey Federation member associations and the NHL on Thursday. As with the last four-year agreement, Russia refused to sign. The agreement regulates transfers to the NHL from all non-North American IIHF-affiliated associations and leagues, except Russia.

Daniel Briere knows how bad the Philadelphia Flyers have been the past year. The All-Star center was partly responsible for a few of their losses in Buffalo. Briere and the Sabres exposed the Flyers as a slow, sluggish group and eliminated them in the 2006 playoffs. Then Buffalo embarrassed them in an eight-goal win early last year that was the catalyst for a massive Philadelphia shake-up.
