Ron Artest called it the worst place he'd ever seen. Maurice Evans emptied his pockets to buy shoes for kids who were walking barefoot over the filthy ground. The NBA players, in Kenya to help feed children, quickly realized food wasn't all that was needed. Five years after being drafted, Luis Scola has finally signed an NBA contract. Scola, chosen by San Antonio in the 2002 draft but never played for the Spurs, was introduced as the newest member of the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. Warriors re-sign G Azubuike (AP)
The Golden State Warriors re-signed guard Kelenna Azubuike on Tuesday. Azubuike played in 41 games with Golden State as a rookie last season, starting nine times while averaging 7.1 points and 2.3 rebounds. The Warriors picked up the former Kentucky player in January from the NBA Development League, which he led with 26 points per game at the time of his callup.

Mourning coming back for final season (AP)
Alonzo Mourning is coming back, one more time. Ending nearly three months of suspense about his future, the Miami Heat center said Sunday night at his annual Zo's Summer Groove charity game that he'll play again next season -- a choice he kept secret to the end, insisting he was still deciding just hours before the actual announcement.

Sens deal Schaefer to Bruins for Donovan (AP)
The Boston Bruins acquired left wing Peter Schaefer on Tuesday from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for right wing Shean Donovan. Schaefer spent three seasons with Ottawa, the 2007 Eastern Conference champions. Last season he played in 77 games, scoring 12 goals and adding 34 assists. Schaefer has played in 493 career games with Ottawa and Vancouver, tallying 89 goals and 144 assists.

The Nashville Predators re-signed forward Darcy Hordichuk and defenseman Kevin Klein to one-year deals Monday, and agreed with defenseman Greg Zanon on a two-year pact. Zanon, 27, had career highs last season with three goals and five assists in 66 games, and he led the NHL in blocked shots with 189 and hits with 91.

Capitals re-sign D Eminger, C Sutherby (AP)
Defenseman Steve Eminger and center Brian Sutherby re-signed Tuesday with the Washington Capitals, who also added free agent center Jason Morgan. Eminger had one goal and 16 assists last season, his fourth with the Capitals. He has six goals and 35 assists in 192 career NHL games since being the 12th overall pick in the 2002 draft.

Wild re-sign D Foster to 1-year deal (AP)
The Minnesota Wild re-signed hard-shooting defenseman Kurtis Foster to a one-year, $1.025 million contract on Tuesday, avoiding a salary arbitration hearing. The 25-year-old Foster had three goals and 20 assists in 57 games for the Wild last season, tying a franchise record with 13 power-play assists.

Isles re-sign D Campoli to 3-year deal (AP)
The New York Islanders signed defenseman Chris Campoli to a three-year deal on Monday worth $1.9 million. The 23-year-old Campoli has 10 goals and 38 assists in 131 career NHL games, all with the Islanders. He was chosen in the seventh round of the 2004 draft.
